Thank you LORD for allowing me to make it through today. I did - TopicsExpress

Thank you LORD for allowing me to make it through today. I did have one scary moment, it wasnt the surgery, it wasnt climbing the stairs but getting into bed after I arrived home, let me tell you. For pre-op the nurse asked if I had sleep apnea, which I do and have to use a CPAP when I sleep. She told me to bring it along with me in the case that I would have to be admitted in the hospital. Now, to bring it, it has to be dis-assembled, placed in protective padded cases and put in a carry all, which I did. I took it with me to the hospital and everything went well so I didnt have to use it. Joe and Erica picked me up after being released, I mean discharged (because released sounds like prison) and took me home. I was heavily under the influence of the anesthesia because the closer I got to home the sleepier I became. They got me out of the car and up the stairs (which was one of my big concerns) and into the house, which is a good thing because had I fallen backwards while climbing the stairs, onto pretty skinny people, (no harm intended) I would have squished them, pulverized them or ground them into powder. Good thing that didnt happen. They got me inside and I went straight to my bed because at this moment, Im about to pass out. Erica ask where to place my bag, I told her to toss on the floor because I have go get in bed right now. To my surprise, my husband is home from work (briefly), to check on me, so I dont get in the bed but lean face forward over it. Joe and Erica leaves and my husband takes out the dog before he goes back to work. So I lift my leg to climb into bed when I realize if I fall asleep without my CPAP, Im as good as dead. They say that I stop breathing so many times when I sleep, so I have to wear the CPAP, but it is dis-assembled and packed in a bag. I scramble to find the bag, and at this point the effect of the anesthesia is overpowering, so I know that I have to assemble this CPAP in record time. My whole body is shaking, trying to fight to stay awake or fall on the floor and trying to assemble at the same time. I feel like Im fighting for my life. I connect mask, tube, cord, reservoir and air. Reservoir; it needs water and my mouth is already super dry from them putting the tube down my throat, so I stumbled around my bed to the powder room, fill it with water, stumble back, put the reservoir in, hit the power button, put the mask on, put my knee up and leap into bed. I fade into the black and wake up five hours later. Thank you LORD, for your mercy and grace and your love.
