Thank you Southern Waters Info Page (Well Southern Water) for the threatening email this morning regarding the fitting of our water meter... Its only been 3 1/2 years since we said yes to a meter and had a visit from the meter team explaining the benefits... Weve since seen at least 2 engineers in our road working out who hasnt got meters as your database didnt have details of who had and who hadnt had a meter fitted... Not sure why you decided to threaten us with a hiked standing charge if we didnt make an appointment to have a meter fitted... Correct me if Im wrong but youre the ones who have failed to install the meter in the first place! So I phone to make said appointment only to be told that I have to have a meter fitted within our property as it cant be fitted outside... But you dont know why? For pities sake! As it happens theres no space to fit a meter under our sink and youre not about to go cutting our sink cabinet about to fit one! Was told the engineers visit was going to be of the house, I suggested that they should survey the street first and once they have told me the reasons why it can or cannot be fitted outside the same as our neighbours then I may consider letting them inside my property... When told that they couldnt do that, the bloke on the phone wisely backed down and Ill now potentially be getting a call from the district manager..... How hard can Southern Water make this process.... Or is it that they cant afford to dig up the street anymore so they are trying to force home owners to have meters fitted inside as its lots cheaper than digging up the pavement???
