He really could have no idea exactly what he was seeing, he described in his own language what he was seeing in the Revelation God was giving him. Simply looking at the pictures of the nuclear explosions of WWII we can see exactly what he saw... a mountain, burning with fire, thrown into the sea. Given the fact that Japan is an island in the middle of the sea, there is no doubt that the Japanese Arena of WWII fits exactly the fulfillment of Trumpet #2. But it doesnt stop there. Lets look at the Math that is given to us as another part of this prophecy for confirmation. The bomb that dropped on Hiroshima, Japan killed around 110,000 people out of a population of around 330,000 people. One-third!
