Thank you again to the voters of the 46th District for asking me to continue to work for our values and hopes for our State in the House; and, to all of you who have helped me to represent and work for those values effectively... What does a more closely divided House and continued Republican Senate mean for the things we care about, such as making our tax system more fair, providing the revenue we need for education and health and security of our families...? As always at my Traveling Town Halls, you can come just to join the discussion, or bring specific concerns and legislative proposals. Because I know that it is impossible for most people to go to Olympia during Session, when you most want to talk to your legislator... As part of my commitment to be accessible, I will continue my tradition of returning to the 46th District every Saturday morning during session for in-district, drop-in office hours at different locations around the District. Legislation I have been working on includes: * A ten year plan to eliminate the opportunity / achievement gap for students with special needs and address the sad state of special education in Washington; * Public health protection from youth access to electronic e-cigarettes and disclosure of their contents; * Higher Education access, with affordable tuition, increased advising and mentoring programs, restoring faculty and staff from recession cuts, encouraging teacher candidates to go into high demand fields such as special ed, and creating a state alternative to high interest federal student loans (Pay It Forward model); And much more...
