Thank you all for answering my question regarding not using helmet when with your equines. I would like to share my reason for wearing one. I drive minis, and for a long time if I was at home or even at shows I didnt wear a helmet because I figured cmon now, I drive minis, these little gaffers cant cause near the damage a regular sized horse can. Yet riding, always wore a helmet. And then I watched this video. I now wear a helmet if I am at home driving my single mini, a pair or four in hand or at any show I attend. I have no intentions of changing anyones mind because we all have our own ideas and knowledge of what is best for us, I am simply stating what is best for me. (Oh and my helmet has nver cost me anything in dressage, because after all its about the horse and driver skills combined, not whether you are wearing a hat or a helmet :)) I would definitely be in favour of a rule requiring helmets in the competition arena, in all equine sports, not just carriage driving. In my mind wearing my helmet is equally as important as wearing my seatbelt when I get in my car.
