Thank you all who came out to Drexel University yesterday morning - TopicsExpress

Thank you all who came out to Drexel University yesterday morning for an enlightening, engaging and inspiring conversation we co-hosted with Art-Reach and Andrew Larkin of Comcast and the Philadelphia Accessibility Forum. For about an hour and a half, we all openly discussed the unique challenges that people with visual impairments confront every day, and specifically when engaging with cultural destinations such as museums, art galleries and other cultural points of interest. And of course this was all within the context of what role mobile Web/software technology and other resources and initiatives could play in helping people overcome those challenges and engage more frequently, enjoyably and effectively with their cultural surroundings. Despite the wintry conditions, it was nearly standing room only with people joining us who either had visual impairments themselves, or represented organizations who serve this community in some way, including: The Penn Museum, The Associated Services for the Blind, Arthur Ross Gallery, Morris Arboretum, National Constitution Center, Accessibility Consultant Austin Seraphin, Software Engineer Chris Tonkinson of Forge Software and of course our ever-ready champion and collaborator Prof. Neville Vakharia of Drexel Universitys Graduate Arts Administration program. Much learned, and much to do! This is only the beginning of this conversation that is one important part of the many new, exciting, and fulfilling paths as we forge ahead. More announcements in this regard coming soon!
