OBITUARY: Rudolph Wilson “Rudy” Harris, age 66, husband of Joan Dale (McKelvey) Harris, of Royersford, PA died suddenly on Sunday December 21, 2014 in Camden, NC. Born in Camden, NC, he was a son of the late Raymond and Sarah (Toler) Harris. A veteran, Rudy served four years for the U.S. Navy (1968 to 1972). He met his future wife in Bermuda on Memorial Day in 1970. They married on July 3rd, 1971 and this year celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Rudy was a devoted husband and family man. He adored the time he spent with his wife and family. Rudy was the proud father of two sons and their wives: James W. “Jamie”, husband of Kelli (Miller) Harris, of Royersford; Matthew D., husband of Allison (Black) Harris of Philadelphia, PA. Matthew and Allison are the parents to the newest addition to the family; Rudy’s grandson Everett James Harris. There was no better feeling he had, then the joy he felt when his grandson, Everett was born. He was such a proud “Papa” to all of his family. He also greatly enjoyed his two dogs, Lola and Jake. Mr. Harris enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors with his friends and family. He was an accomplished amateur archaeologist having discovered and excavated a number of important archaeological sites. Rudy enjoyed buying and selling antiques and collectibles. In early years, Rudy was a silver jewelry craftsman and a chimney sweep in the Phoenixville area. He had a career as a printer in the Graphic Arts International Union. After his retirement, he drove a school bus Spring-Ford School District until his stroke seven years ago. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at the Campbell–Ennis–Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2014 at 7:00PM. Officiating will be Mr. Jack Claypotch. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 5:30 – 6:45 PM Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Bryn Mawr Rehab Center, 414 Paoli Pike, Malvern, PA 19355.
