Thank you for adding me to the group. My main family interests in Tasmania are for the surnames McCulloch and Fenton and Stewart. They relate to my Great x 2 Grandfathers brother Robert McCulloch (b approx. 1822 Queens County, Westmeath, IRL, died IRL late of Carlanstown House, Westmeath, IRL). He married (1) Fanny Dinah STEWART (daughter of Captian Robert Petty STEWART and his wife Mary Ann). Other children were Charles William Augustus, Emily Sophia, Mary Ann, Robert Frederick Augustus. Fanny (b 1827, d 1857). Robert and Fanny had 1 son Stewart who died within days of his mother soon after his birth. Robert then married Georgina Sophia FENTON (b 14/2/1831, Tas, d 4/11/1908 Launceston, Tas.Buried in the Old Catholic area of Carr Villa Cemetery, Launceston, Tas.) who was the daughter of Michael FENTON (b 1789 Tasmania) and Elizabeth FENTON (nee SINCLAIR). They lived at New Norfolk. Tasmania. Their other children were: Alice James Anna (b 1836), Henrietta Jane (b 1836), James Knox (b 1834, d 1834), Leonora Eugenia (b 1838), Michael (b 1832). Robert & Georgina had children: William Fenton McC (b 1860 in Bendigo, Vic, d May 1943 in a pricate hospital in Hobart, Tas) He fought in the Chilean War of Independence, the Maori Wars in New Zealand and in the Spanish American War. He settled in Maria Island, Tasmania. He married in 1915 to Julia Mabel MURCHISON (daughter of Roderick Impey MURCHISON formerly of Kerrisdale, Vic and Yathong, NSW.. Evelyn Knox McC (b 1861, d 1864), Henry Laurence McC(b 1865), Hubert Hamilton McC (b 1868, d 1876), Claude Campbell Mcc (b 1870, died Maria Island 15/4/1905). Gordon Beresford McC (d 12/5/1901 at Grootfontein, Orange River Colony - killed in action. Was with the South African Light Horse.) Robert McCULLOCH was an Inspector of Police in Victoria, AUS. Captain Michael FENTON was a Speaker of the Parliament in Tasmania. He lived at Fentons Forest, Tas.
