Thank you for your prayers and positive thoughts. Sharon is home - TopicsExpress

Thank you for your prayers and positive thoughts. Sharon is home from Emergency, and resting nicely. She was not hospitalized, so remains in Palliative Care. The chest X-ray and blood tests were fine. The only concern is that her sodium level is a little low. The last time it went down resulted in hallucinations and a 10 day stay in the hospital. The swelling and bleeding around her tracheostomy opening on her neck was the result of too much moisture. That resulted in pain and gagging whenever we suctioned out her trachea or changed the inner canula tube. We were given some moisture barrier paper and cream. She is blind, deaf, and is fed through a G-tube. Of course, she is unable to speak because of the trach tube. She is bed bound, and sleeps about 22 hours a day. She is awake for brief periods, about 5-15 minutes, then falls back asleep. However, she knows she is well loved, and is very happy to be home. :)
