Thank you letter: This is a thank you letter to express my deepest gratitude for all of the love, support, generosity and kindness that my family and I have received from not only my closest friends and family, but also from old friends, and friends Ive never met. For one close friend in particular, I can not thank you enough for your hard work, persistent efforts and valuable personal time that you dedicated to helping create A Night For Lauren. Thank you. So many others came together to create such a wonderful trivia night, from the challenging brain teasers, to the action packed auction, everybody had a wonderful time, and most importantly, I felt supported and lifted up by all of those who attended. There have been others who have made significant monetary donations, donations of prizes, and offerings of encouragement and support. thank you. I first moved to Bolwarra Heights with my parents and 3 younger siblings at age 10, and was immediately welcomed with open arms by everyone at St Johns Primary School Maitland. My school friendships overflowed into my extracurricular activities, and before long, I felt at home with my new family - the Maitland community. However, only 3 & 1/2 years after settling into my new home, I was diagnosed with cancer. My family and I were devastated, scared and in complete disarray, but we were never alone. We were immediately comforted and carried on the shoulders of our Maitland family, helping us to continue fighting, despite the many hurdles we faced. Every time we fell down again with news that the cancer had returned, our community picked us back up and carried us through. We came out the other side with thanks to them. After finishing year 12 and moving on to university, we relocated to Newcastle. While we had moved house, our home never changed - our Maitland family remained. Now, some 10 years later, I am facing my toughest battle yet, terminal cancer. I have been blessed with an amazing husband and two beautiful boys who are my world, new friends & new family; but despite the space and time between us, my maitland family remains. I have been lifted up and supported by this family once again. The money that has been raised will go towards my current and future medication costs. While this treatment is not life saving, its aim is to prolong my life, give me a better quality of life, and allow extra time for me to spend with my husband and 2 boys. I have always been optimistic in my outlook, so I would also like to suggest that the money raised, will go towards medications that will see me through until a cure is found. For this, my family and i are forever grateful and can not even begin to comprehend how selfless, kind and compassionate people have been. For myself, and the many many others in a similar situation, I pray that we can hold on until a cure is found...it will be found. Until this time, I thank God for the wonderful people that have surrounded me throughout my life, and I can only hope, that my children grow up to know such love and support. Thank you. Lauren Koppers nee Hubert.
