Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday. Your thoughtfulness made the day even more special. Lately, I have been pondering on how birthdays are really a day we celebrate that someone was birthed into this world. We celebrate the essence that makes them ...well...them. We are basically celebrating their identity. There have been many times while ministering to others who have a very broken identity and struggle with a deep sense of self-hatred, I have come to discover after some digging, that the way a persons birth was celebrated or not celebrated or something tragic happened on one of their birthdays, it marks their identity. Not everyone who struggles with identity and self-hatred has had bad birthdays, but I have ministered to enough women who have struggled with these issues to come across a pretty common thread. I mean one lady I know had re-occurring tragedies that took place on three separate birthdays that were down right unbelievable. That is NOT a coincidence! That is a strategic plan from the enemy. He was sending a message loud and clear to that woman that said, You were a mistake. You are not meant to be celebrated. You should have never been born. The enemy knows that to take a day where your very existence is suppose to be celebrated and mark it as an anniversary of a tragic event or as a reminder of how you were mistreated is his way of trying to destroy your self-esteem. I would like to challenge you to take a moment and celebrate who you are and how you were created on your next birthday....heck...celebrate who you are today! If I think about it, I am celebrating something awesome God created today...ME! I am celebrating his art work. Believe me, you are not intelligent enough nor powerful enough to create something as awesome as you are. Only God can do that. And when we hate on ourselves, we are telling the most magnificent artist in the world that we arent pleased with His work. Self-hatred is not just about you, it is also hating on something God has created. Its telling Him He messed up and He didnt do a good job when making you. Whether you come from not feeling celebrated on your special day, and lets face it, we all want to be celebrated, know that all of Heaven celebrates you EVERY day and I believe even more on that extra special day we call our birthday. May you learn to celebrate you on every single day, because you are SO awesome!!! #loveyou #identity #happybirthday
