Thank you to the Des Moines firefighters who battled the Younkers fire overnight and continue to keep an eye on the building today. Its a sad day but could have been more tragic if anyone were injured or worse trying to put the fire out. Thanks also to Des Moines police and everyone else involved for keeping the gawkers at bay. I hope that something positive can come from this. It will be easy for the critics to point fingers at the construction company doing renovation but regardless of how the fire started, let the professionals do their jobs.
