Thank you to the great group of school board members and parents who came to the Denton County Community Conversation. We had school board members from Argyle ISD, Lewisville ISD, and Decatur ISD and grandparents and taxpayers from Denton ISD. All agreed the issue of the Common Core professional development of teachers and instructional materials flooding into Texas schools is of great concern. The call to action and the solutions must come from the local level as well as the legislative level. First and foremost a call for a ruling from Attorney General Greg Abbott must happen very quickly on whether the 2012 College and Career Ready Math TEKS which are not being implemented for the first time are aligned to the Common Core national standards. We have children being harmed daily by what is being implemented in Texas schools, public, private and charter. Interestly enough, the same things are occurring in schools across the country.
