Thankfulness Journal: day 9 : Cousins! When it comes to cousins I do have a lot to be thankful for! I have/ had 21 Forgue cousins :as youngster we would often gather at Gramma & Grampas house --there are some great old black and white photos which I treasure- my older cousins were Hugh, Larry, & JoAnne King(Aunt Louises ) Jay &Dianne Yakes (Aunt Vi) then along came me! Followed closely by Rick Schaub,(Aunt Rudy) with whom I was very close all through school, his sister Cindy, and brother Chuck - Hugh was much older than I was, Larry was also older - I dont remember too much about Hugh, he was almost the same age as Aunt Jeanne and they were closer than he was with us littlecousins but he was always kind to us, sadly his life was hard in later years, he had a heart transplant 20 years ago, and just last month we learned his struggle is over! Larry was a rebel and struggled with conflicts with his parents-- but impressed everyone with his pitching skills - I think at one point he even tried to make the minor leagues, JoAnne -a year older than me but always seemed SO grown up and so lovely with her red-auburn hair ( the reason I used that red rinse when I got older) Jay Yakes (Aunt Vi) who caught snakes, & explored the wilds in Florida, and seemed to be able to fix anything -- yeah he was my idol and was amazingly patient with tomboy carol always wanting to tag along on snake hunts and explorations!! His sister Dianne also a year ahead of me was my tween & teen. Friend - they lived in Florida, so did my grandparents, Aunt Dorrie, and later Aunt Loise, Aunt Jeanne also lived there for a while too. Along came the Younger ones Mike( now Mayor of the town we all love) Linda & Barbara Yakes, Rex , Mary Lou, and Susan McKeen (Aunt Dorries)back home in Michigan aunt Rudy remarried and added Timm , Jack, and Laurie to our group, and Aunt Jeanne added Marshall, Mitch, Robert &John ( our family rock stars) Sadly we also lost Linda a while back. and getting to visit together just doesnt happen-- except on Facebook where I have also found my paternal cousins Jill and Lynn!! So I am really thankful for reuniting with my kin on these pages!!
