Thanks Mrs. Vivian Fiscian for the commendation,@ William Akita you Stand Very Tall among the several male counterparts I have had the opportunity to discuss this topical matter...Investment in Girls Education indeed comes with both intended and unintended cost, yet, the Social Returns on such investments have long term development benefis not only for individual families; but the Country as whole... Many girls would be educated and transition to higher educational levels, Ghana will reduce the illiteracy rates among women, maternal and infant mortality rates will drop significantly, family incomes will increase which also reduces the dependency ratio these are among the many socioeconmic benefits.... I understand where the critics are coming from.; many of them have not paid attention to what it means to enroll girls and retain them in school. Such efforts require a total girl-child friendly school environment...which includes but not limited to ensuring that girls can freely go to school even in that time on the month without any barriers. Many girls in time past have dropped out of school because they cloud not afford the monthly cost of sanitary towel including where to change when the queen arrives unexpectedly. Many have soiled themselves while in school and have been rediculed by school/class mates and had to stay out of school because they cannot stand the humiliation and the embarrassment at that tender age when they are trying to adjust to the changes in theIr bodies....Even at the Tertiary Education levels many ladies on one occasion or the other had to miss lectures because it is that time of the month, and are broke ; and therefore cannot afford a PAD, until she borrows from a friend or roommate... that is the reality.... Thank you William Akita ; for Standing Tall among your contemporaries...!!! Carry on the positive debate and help your colleagues to understand the issues from a Social Development Perspective by distilling the politics... You made my Day knowing that there are many men like you out there!!!!!!!
