Thanks Pallavi for the challenge ! I will accept that reading books were never on my priority list when I was young. But for the last few years, books has been a reflection of state of my mind. I started reading non fiction mostly because of my interest in history and facts. So here my list reflects mostly that. 1: Inside Terrorism amazon/Inside-Terrorism-Bruce-Hoffman/dp/0231126999/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1410491874&sr=8-4&keywords=terrorism Before reading this book, my naïve self used to think that terrorism is only because of poverty and lack of education. But this educates you on the history of terrorism and how terrorism became a way to get attention. Very good book if you want to know why terrorism exists and where it’s root come from. 2: India After Gandhi amazon/India-After-Gandhi-History-Democracy/dp/0060958588/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410491933&sr=8-1&keywords=india+after+gandhi Guha is I think one of the best Historians in India and this book is a must read for everyone. Mostly in schools our history stopped at Independence. This book tells you what happened after that and how modern India is what it is now. I loved this one specially and used facts from this book in many of the arguments I have got into lately. :P Contrary to the pervious book, this on is not at all boring and forces you to finish till the end. Must Read ! 3: Ayn Rand’ Fountain Head & Atlas Shrugged My God ! What a phenomenal writer she is ! These books were written in early 19s but they are still relevant today. Read them if you ever took a stand on anything in your life. I have not seen such strong women characters anywhere else. I don’t have to sell these as they themselves are classics and need no introduction. 4: Nazi-Germany-Jews-Persecution-1933-1939 Vol 1 amazon/Nazi-Germany-Jews-Persecution-1933-1939/dp/0060928786/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1410491966&sr=8-2&keywords=nazi+germany+and+the+jews I wanted to read volume 2 actually but it took so long to finish volume 1, that I had to postpone my idea for reading 2, which got Pulitzer. But one day I will read that one as well. ☺ Read this one to understand the mass psychology. On how and why holocaust happen and how the hell it got support from so many germans. This book was very difficult to read because what was happening in Germany was believable and that was frightening. Because this can happen anywhere. Very sad but essential piece of history to know. 5: Palace of Illusions amazon/The-Palace-Illusions-A-Novel/dp/1400096200/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410492006&sr=8-1&keywords=palace+of+illusions So many versions of Mahabharat are there but it was very very interesting to look through the eyes of Panchali. This book surprises you with Panchali’s modern thinking and issues relevant to women of today. I just loved it ! Thanks Asima :D Ahh thakk gayi ! Bass abhi itni kaafi hai, time mila toh aur likh dungi :D
