Thanks Prasanna for Nominating me for the #BookBucket Challenge. Heres my list of 10 books - not in any order. 1. Everybody Loves a Good Drough- P Sainath The book takes us to the nooks and corners of India and tell us how lives of adivasis, dalits and farmers, craftsmen are affected by governments bowing before World Bank and IMF. A Must read for every one interested in todays India. 2 Bhagat Singh- why I am an Atheist - Bhagat Singh wonderfully argues why there can be no God, Everyone must read it to understand the strength, courage, the rationality and intellect of Bhagat Singh 3, Six Suspects by Vikas Swarup A Thriller that so well depicts the bundle of contradictions that India is; he brings out the caste and class barriers so well.. Swarups earlier book Q&A was adapted as Slumdog Millionaire- but its a poor adaptation. I strongly recommend his books. 4. అనంతం (Anantham) - Auto Biography of the great Telugu Poet Sri Sri (do not confuse with the Charlatan) - very candid biography, where he lays thread bare his views, caste system, class divide, literature and all aspects of his life. 5. The Shock Doctrine - Naomi Klein If you want to understand about whats wrong with the World - do read it. A wonderful history of the last few decades - from Panama Canal to Tsunami hit SrI Lankan Coast 6. The Emerging Mindi - V.S. Ramachandran - Have your wondered, if ones IQ is due to ones genes or upbringing? This books is the answer. V.S Takes us to the fantastic journey through the lanes and alleys of our brain. 7. The Reluctant Fundamentalist - Moshin Hamid. I was transported to the cafe of Lahore and even taste the tea there. A wonderful book to understand Geo-politics and the burden of Islamophobia on all muslims. 8. Angels and demons - Dan Brown. Renaissance, Rome and Robert 9. Riddles in Hinduism - Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar I read it in Telugu, but would like to revisit it in English again. 10 Such a Long Journey - Rohinton Mistry I wonder if one can write such a bold book today. The characters mince no words in showing their disapproval of the establishment of that team. Though the book is highly critical of Indira, Shiv Sena got it withdrawn from the curriculum of Mumbai University. I nominate Prabhath Ramana Vijay Chandra Siva Kumar నేను సైతం Sashi Kiran for the Challenge!
