Thanks Root Mean Square, heres my list of 10 books that influenced me. One Hundred Years of Solitude – Gabriel Garcia Marquez (a sumptuous banquet of grand tales, giant-size characters and exquisite prose.) Chronicle of a Death Foretold – Gabriel Garcia Marquez (gripping because it’s so tightly crafted.) Zorba the Greek – Nikolas Kazantzakis (so full of the richness of life.) Siddhartha – Herman Hesse (such simple language that it’s quietly powerful.) Aunt Julia and the scriptwriter – Mario Vargas Llosa (fabulous style, metaphor and storytelling. Eg. – There was a lady who went by the fragrant name of Rose.) The Gospel According to Jesus Christ – Jose Saramago (it’ll put you in the worn sandals of Christ. It’s satisfyingly blasphemous too.) Some short stories by Jorge Luis Borges (all perfectly crafted, some unforgettable.) Catch 22 – Joseph Heller (one of the funniest satires ever.) Herzog – Saul Bellow (funny and brilliant.) Rajneesh Ramakrishnan, Varun Mehta, Sandip Koodali, Kenny Winston Hereford, Arnila Gunaratne, Uttam Sirur please post a list of 10 books that influenced you most. its supposed to be a spontaneous list. If youve already posted such a list, just tag me in the comments section.
