Thanks everyone for your wishes and concern. The good News is that the blood tests returned a result that confirms NO heart attack, the bad news ... once the Cardio issue is discounted our public health system somewhat loses interest or energy in a diagnosis. So from an emergency admission based around pain and concern, we come to a script for some pain relief and the quiet words form the staff have you got insurance ?. Which happily we have ... so GP tomorrow and a referral and then scans and a little more in-depth investigation to discover exactly what is the cause of the problem. I have to say its slightly disconcerting when one asks a hospital doctor if it could be blah or blah and the answer comes back yes but we wouldnt be able to know that without running more tests ... ? I cant blame them, they are great people, dedicated and highly skilled medical practitioners who are under-resourced and hopelessly overwhelmed by an enormous number of patients, and looking at the general make-up of those patients one can only see the issue becoming far worse in the coming years. However as I left the hospital I saw the beautiful view out to Rangitoto, and I couldnt help but notice that Auckland City Hospital is built on top of a hill which at a stretch you could I suppose refer to as a cliff - I believe the DHB call it that - and have asked for all the ambulances to be parked at the bottom ! Aloha has now gone back to bed and I have slipped into my nurses outfit - was that TMI ???
