We are opening a not-for-profit library and community space in Lagunitas, California, dedicated to conversation and education about localization, ecological design, alternative economies, and cultural transformation. The Western Gate: [R]evolutionary Teahouse and Book Commons will offer exceptional teas and a space to enjoy them as a means to foster local bonds and develop dialogue on social change. We will also have a library of inspiring magazines and books, and host screenings, discussion groups, author events and classes on a broad range of subjects connected to sustainability, local history and the poetry and literature of the West Coast. Our vision is to invite our community to develop the ethic of the commons, inspire solutions, and deepen our connection to place. We have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to invite our community to be part of founding this unique space. PRI is a global networking center for ecological design and food security initiatives with hubs in Jordan, Canada, Chile, Turkey, the U.S. and Afghanistan. The teahouse and book commons are an outreach project of PRI, with the intention of educating and inspiring people about the possibilities of transforming culture through regenerative design and cultivating community resilience.
