Thanks for the Add. Please take the extra minute or two to read the post below in its entirety. Thank you again. I am a Friend of the SCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans) while I research my family lineage to ancestors who fought for the Confederacy & were POWs of the federal regime in Maine & Massachusetts jails and prisons. I have been a 39 year member of a Confederate Civil War reenactment outfit called the 34th Battalion Virginia Cavalry, BASED in MASSACHUSETTS, believe it or not. We are just one of several hundred individual Union & Confederate military outfits belonging to the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA). As the book below points out in well documented detail, Maine was a hotbed of actual civilian & military encounters between a makeshift Union Navy & Confederate blockade runners. There were also confrontations between Maine Loyalists & Copperheads. The Copperheads were citizens by the thousands who lived in states north of the Mason-Dixon line loyal to the Constitution as written by the Founding Fathers, but against the anti-Constitutional activities of the Lincoln administration including the war. I hope to establish a new SCV camp in Maine as there were Southerners; loyal Confederates, who were held as prisoners of war here in Maine who made our fair state their home upon release due to the total destruction of their homes by the likes of Union generals Phil Sheridan & W.T. Sherman. Anyone who knows or thinks that they might have ancestors who fought for the Confederacy. Anyone who can document such ancestry or who had a relationship to a Copperhead during the War for Southern Independence 1861-1865 or would like to just join a Civil War Roundtable; please contact me at Live-Free-or-Die@uSA with your name & best contact source (phone or e-mail) & Ill get back to you. If we are able to establish a Downeast Camp of the SCV, it will be called the Lt. Charles W. Read, CSN (Confederate States Navy) - CSA Camp # ****, Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) Read the reviews of this well documented book by clicking on below:
