Thanks for the add! I am the daughter of a wrongfully convicted man. My dad has been incarcerated in Missouri since 1982 for a crime he had absolutely NO INVOLVEMENT in. The Midwest Innocence Project has been fighting for his release since 2005. The circuit court judge in St. Louis issued a decision on Christmas Eve last year denying his motion for release after an evidentiary hearing in September of last year in which exculpatory DNA evidence was presented. The only physical evidence used against him at trial was a pubic hair from the scene they claimed was his. In fact, an entire 1/3 of their almost 40 witnesses were put on just to talk about the hair match. That hair, along with another hair found on a victim, and at least a dozen other pieces of evidence were all tested and his DNA is on NONE of it, proving what we have always known, and what he has said for over 32 years; he is INNOCENT! The state has now changed their position and now state that the hair was not important and that they never said it was the killer. They now say that their case depended solely on the eyewitness testimony. The only eyewitness testimony came from a severely emotionally and physically traumatized child who was 7 when the crime occurred, 8 when she testified. She was pressured and manipulated into naming him as the killer through an EXTREMELY biased and inappropriate identification procedure. Her story changed many times and all the major details about the suspect given in the beginning had completely changed by the time of trial so that they fit my father. The Midwest Innocence Project appealed the circuit courts decision and his attorney Laura OSullivan will be presenting Oral Arguments to the Eastern District MO Appeals Court on November 18.
