Thanks for this, Emilios Georgiades. Lets wait how these develop. I am sure when it hits mainstream media, it comes with an Anti-Putin flair. There are certain International developments that are often not reported on by Western MSM but which are important in order to connect the dots and get a better picture of what’s really going on in the world. Three such developments are: a) The Russian Official’s statement to the people of Greece that in the event they decide to leave the EU, Russia will review its trade relations with Greece, including the immediate lifting of the ban on exports of Greek produce to Russia. On the surface, this may not appear such an important development, but given that it comes just a few days prior to the Greek General Elections, it acquires special significance as it offers the reassurance to the people of Greece that if they were to turn their backs on the EU and the crippling austerity measures of the Troika, they will not find themselves completely isolated. Greek agricultural produce has always been very popular in Russia and the Greek Islands a favourite destination for the Russian tourist, at least until the US instigated sanctions that the EU so foolishly endorsed. b) Cyprus is on the verge of signing a bilateral agreement with Russia, by which the small island nation will provide the Russian Federation with Military facilities in the Mediterranean in exchange for protection against the threats the island has been receiving from its much stronger neighbour in the North who has been ploughing with its warships through the EEZ of the island for months now without either the US, the UN or the EU, of which Cyprus is a member, saying anything to deter the Turks from such provocative behaviour. Although details of what these facilities will be have not been disclosed, it is widely speculated that they will include the use of the airport in Paphos [Western Cyprus]. c) The Chinese have, in the past, offered to prepay Cyprus 6 billion Euro for future purchases of natural gas. That’s 60% of the entire loan received by Cyprus from the ECB and the IMF. This, of course, was not made public by the Cypriot government at the time since they did not consider it, as such a consideration would have upset the Island’s “allies”, the US and the EU. Now that the Cypriot government feels that it has been betrayed by these same allies, on whom it had pinned its hopes for support, it feels it has the right to explore other options, including the Chinese offer. The Chinese have confirmed that they are still interested in investing in the energy sector on the island. Cyprus may be a small island nation, but its location makes it a very strategic one.
