Thanks to Bridgwater College and Richard Huish College for inviting us in on Road safety Week. As usual it was great to see some familiar faces and talk about Moped and Motorcycle safety. Tyres continue to be a cause for concern, please remember to check them for pressure AND tread depth. The original tread pattern needs to be visible across and around the whole tyre for Mopeds and for larger machines, at least 1mm in depth. A recent survey of drivers and riders aged between 18-25 years showed that more than a third had never checked their tyre tread depth and two thirds had not checked it in the last month. This is the maximum period between checks recommended. A quick check of your tyres will take a few seconds and could make the world of difference. Don’t forget apart from the obvious safety benefit of having a correctly inflated tyre, it will also ensure maximum mpg and economy for you. These days every bit counts.
