Thanks to Majed Rahman for challenging me. I actually am going to donate to ALS research. ALS aka Lou Gehrigs disease is one of the earliest genetic disorders Ive ever heard of. It took the life and career of Lou Gehrig, who any NY Yankees fan worth his salt has heard of. Renowned physicist and generally accepted smartest man alive Stephen Hawkings also suffers from ALS. Genetic diseases such as ALS still dont have cures, and any progress can mean great benefits for all of humanity. I will also be donating to various other charities as per my ability. If you dont feel particularly inclined to donate to ALS,Ive included links to various other causes off the top of my head. They include fresh water projects in Africa, relief for children in Palestine as well as other areas, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria as well as Canadian founded initiatives in Bangladesh. Its easy to be cynical about something thats a social media fad. But why not use this as a chance to give back and raise awareness for anything you might care about?
