Thanks to State Farm Youth Advisory Board for supporting the Aldo Leopold Charter Schools Gila River Watershed Project The Aldo Leopold Charter High School’s Eco Monitoring Science Class, with the help of their teachers and community partners, have developed and are leading high interest service learning activities to compliment science and math curriculum in several 4th and 5th grade classes at local elementary schools. The Eco Monitoring class have been trained to be Presentation Leaders and are visiting different 4th and 5th grade classrooms in Grant, Hidalgo and Luna Counties. With community partner support from The Gila Conservation Education Center, the student Presentation Leaders have assembled and are demonstrating “Watershed/Conservation Discovery Trunks” that are loaded with curriculum, materials, scientific collection gear and activity guides.
