Thanks to WGN reporter Gaynor Hall for moderating the Illinois 2nd Congressional District Youth Summit and Job Expo for young men and women between the ages of 15 and 21. The event was held at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy, located at 250 E. 111th St., Chicago. Thanks to the representatives from more than 50 companies and agencies, including Nike, Walmart, CVS and the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, as they accepted applications for active job openings and internships. The summit also offered workshops on interview skills, resume writing, financial responsibility and building positive work habits. A Youth Panel discussed the issues confronting today’s young people, including violence within the community.
