Thanks to all of you for your kind and encouraging words on the Infosys Prize. Being a firm believer in interdependence, I have to thank many of you (particularly my students) for contributing to the many ideas and passions that made this award possible. In that sense, it is a collective award. But I have to say that it feels so surreal! And one of the few times that I actually lost my voice. The call from Prof Amartya Sen and Mr Narayan Murthy two days ago was completely out of the blue! I actually thought someone was playing a phone prank on me. Its still not sunken in, and Im not sure whether its an unqualified moment of joy or not. As I continue to feel terribly inadequate for an award of this magnitude. But on the bright side, I can continue my research and writing without worrying about bread on the table and having to suffer another insufferable VC :). And Im desperately hoping that this converts to more support for IDIA, SpicyIP, P-PIL and other causes close to my heart. Thanks again for all your support and well wishes. Will desperately need it in the coming years, as expectations mount after this award.
