Thanks to everyone for the hundreds of posts on New Years Day. I - TopicsExpress

Thanks to everyone for the hundreds of posts on New Years Day. I also wanted to send our best wishes to everyone getting hit by winter storms this year. I have been in or around water spouts and tornadoes and killer hurricanes a number of times, but the most frightening weather experience I ever had was driving through a whiteout in South Dakota when the chill factor hit seventy below. Americans beat up on themselves for being soft. The people of the American plains are extraordinary individuals. So are those up in New England and the Atlantic Coast and the Great Lakes who have gotten pounded for the last few days. So are the guys out in Santa Monica and Seattle and down in Dixie. Anyone who says this isnt a great country has a thinking disorder. I hope the next few days bring warmer days for everyone. Here in western Montana, yesterday was gray and harsh, the wind full of grit. During the night, snow seemed to drift down from the stars, and this morning the temperature is twenty-eight degrees, without a breath of wind. The sky is marbled with purple and steel-colored clouds, with patches of blue in between, and the sun is just breaking on the rim of the mountains that border our property. What a fine day it promises to be. As the writer in Ecclesiastes says, the earth abideth forever. The pump on our stock tank has frozen up, so I hand-carried buckets of water down to the barn by starlight last night, and also wormed Missys Playboy and Love that Santa Fe. Guess who has fallen in love with the taste of Ivermectin? Youve got it. Missy crushed the plastic syringe in his teeth and tried to eat it. This morning I found what appear to be small cougar tracks on the driveway. I put a motion-sensor trail camera by the stock tank in our south pasture and plan to take it down today and see who has been passing through. I think this may warrant another animal update. Stand by. All the best to everyone, Jim
