Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers while waiting for an update. Cory & I saw Dr. Ryken today. The final pathology indicates that I have a Grade II Astrocytoma. The standard treatment for this type of tumor is to remove it if it can safely be removed. The plan is to have the resection done sometime late summer or early fall. In the meantime, I am going to go see two additional neurosurgeons at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to see if they can determine the cause of the cigarette smoke smell and if that can be stopped. Dr. Ryken believes the cigarette smell sensation is a form of a seizure that is not necessarily related to the tumor. We appreciate all of your kind words and support as we take the next steps in this journey.
