Thanks to my nephew, Garrick Paul for nominating me and thanks to my son, Jake for filming! Ive nominated Gordon Olson of Ness Creek Site, Ric Driediger of Churchill River Canoe Outfitters, Brad Muir of Sundogs Excursions, Vinessa Currie of Clearwater Canoeing - Save the Voyageurs Society, Mika Carriere of the Prince Albert Model Forest and Shannyn Galloway of Calypso Bay. I chose to jump in the Sturgeon River because water conservation is important to me. I am very blessed to be able to wake up every morning in this beautiful place and to have access to plenty of clean and healthy water. Unfortunately, many around the world are not that lucky. Some of the folks Ive nominated are also associated with some wonderful watery places, like Ness Creek, Nesslin Lake, Churchill River, Anglin Lake, Waskesiu River, Clearwater River, Saskatchewan River Delta, etc. I hope that they will choose to tell you all about why these places are important to them and worthy of our attention! Recently, however, the concept of these Ice Bucket Challenges has become a source of controversy, with some people even suggesting that there are other charitable causes worth our attention more than ALS, such as the global issue of the lack of access to clean, healthy water. Personally, I cant fathom anything less charitable and more petty than trying to pit one worthy cause against another. An issue like clean, healthy water is extremely important. A large part of my work in conservation deals directly with this. However, the fight against ALS is also extremely important as are many other causes. I only ask this one thing. Donate. If ALS isnt your cause of choice, that is fine. Donate to the cause you are passionate about. But please dont be critical of charitable causes, the methods they use to raise money or where and how people choose to donate and raise awareness. Celebrate generosity and charitableness when you see it in the world, as these qualities are becoming harder to find. Enjoy the video and thanks for supporting great causes!
