Thanks to tireless work by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, Philadelphias Homeless Advocacy Project, the NAACP and others, the Voter ID law that would have disenfranchised hundreds of thousands of eligible voter appears to be dead. The law, while never put into effect, cost about $6 million for advertising, most of which came from the federal government, as well as nearly $1 million in costs for outside legal counsel, according to the Department of State.
