Thanksgiving Day We thank you, Lord, for friends who continue to be friends even after they know us well; for people who love us even after they have seen us at our worst; for public servants; preachers, teachers, police officers, firemen and church workers, who serve us faithfuly even though we never stop to thank them; for all those who never stop doing good work just because no one expresses gratitude. We thank you today for the brave people of our land who are more interested in being right than in being popular; for those who are willing to support a good cause publicly even though they know that cause may not succeed. We are thankful, Lord, for our freedom- For the freedom to choose our religion; for the freedom to choose our profession, trade,or career. We thank you, Lord for our human rights- For the right yo vote to elect the men and women to office who pass the laws of this land; for the right to vote out of office those who prove unworthy of our trust; for the right to elect the leader of our nation; and for the rightpo publicly disagree with him as we choose, without the fear of a knock at the door in the black of night, or wiretap on our private telephone line. I a thankful today for all of the medical miracles we take for granted; insulin, oxygen, aspirin, eye glasses, pacemakers, hearing aids and artificial limbs. Thank you, Lord, for the doctors who sometimes rush over slippery highways, through the dark of night, risking their lives to save the life of someone whose face they have never seen and whose name means nothing to them. I am thankful for young people who dare to believe they can improve upon the achievements of their parents, but truly apreciate all the older generation has done before them. I am thankful for older people who dare to believe that the world can succeed and improve without them. I am thankful today for the beauty of the world around me, for green pastures and still waters, for tall tress that bow their heads prayerfully in the wind and in the sun. And finally, Lord, I am thankful for the church that brought the joy of living into my life when it introduced me to the person who has become my best friend- JESUS CHRIST! AMEN
