Thankyou Jill Valentine for the tag, I dont normally do taggy things but this looks fun. [10 Video Games That Will Always Stay with Me] RULES: Dont take more than a few minutes. Do not think too hard. They dont have to be the right game or great works of the gaming industry, just the ones that have affected you in some ways. Then tag 10 friends including me so I can see your list. In random order, no multiple games from one series: This isnt my top games of all time list, this is games that have stuck with me. 10. The Secret of Monkey Island. You fight like a dairy farmer! How appropriate you fight like a cow! Loved this as a kid and I loved the HD update. A very charming game and one that led to a love of the point and click RPG, like other favorites of mine like Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango. The LeChuck theme is still stuck in my head. 9. Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past. Tied with Minish cap as my favorite 2D Zelda. Its a great experience and I love how easily action and puzzles blended. a game that felt epic to me despite the limitations, a great opening and a really good pace through out that kept me going and an experience I will remember. This was my first Zelda game and I pretty much fell in love with the series through this. 8. Final Fantasy VI (III if you are an american) This might be one of them best 2D RPGs ever made. All the characters get development and despite having tiny sprites with only a few emotes, theres some heartbreaking moments told purely through text, and that soundtrack. If you dont suplex the Phantom Train, you have no soul. 7. Metal Gear Solid. While 3 is my favorite in the series I replayed 1 over and over, I can pretty much quote codec conversations - this was an amazing cinematic experience delivered through amazing voice acting, perfect shot composition and an awesome leitmotif soundtrack. Loved the gameplay and the story equally. 6. Chrono Trigger. No might be, this time, this IS the best 2D RPG ever made. side quests expand the world and dont feel tagged on. Loved all the differnt time zones and the characters you meet. This game almost lets you cheat and play the final level in the first half an hour of play, but the rest of the game will give you context and the ability to deal with it. The DS port is the best version - all the Toriyama animated cutscenes. Frog is the most badass character in video games. Fact. 5. Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. One of the best games on the wii, I know its not the best critically in the series but I really enjoyed it and it game at a time in my life when I needed escapism. Riding a horse off into adventure is the best thing. Some of my favorite dungeons in the series. Stallord Beyblade battle. Best fight. 4. Tekken 3 Put a ps1 controller in my hand and I will show you 10 hit combos, I will beat you with every character and I will hammer Tekken Force till I unlock Dr B. Great game. for me this was the pinnacle of what the PS1 could do. I drew some awesome fan art of Yoshimitsu when I was pretty young, and I reckon I could still draw the Tekken 3 version of that character from memory. 3. Pokémon Blue. I was hooked. Loved this game. While I do love the newest entries to the series and continue playing to this day, seeing a turtle with water firing bazookas on the cover of a game? Sold. Done. Soul Silver was a joy to play through, a massive mostalgia hit but updated well. Loved the gym leader rematches. Blue/Green/Gary is still the best Rival in the series. Even though everyone already knows it - the champion plot twist is still one of the best, and gives you a genuine reason to want to win that final battle! 2. Final Fantasy VII. I have no idea how long I played this as a kid. Way too long to be healthy. Its an experience. Theres flaws, massive ones, theres amazing set pieces that will stick with me and there are chacters that I loved learning more about as the story progessed. Played it right through to the end and beyond doing every sidequest and even Ruby and Emerald Weapon. Gold Chocbos man, you dont know how hard me and my brother worked for that. 1. Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I drew more sonic art as a kid than was healthy. I collected Sonic the Comic. But regardless of all that Sonic 3 and Knuckles I could play over and over again. Actual ingame storytelling, no words, the events just played out on screen, great set pieces, solid level design and the whole thing looked great. Blue sphere stages, and the awesome hidden final doomsday zone. I could totally play this right now. Screw that I totally will. That was long. I got carried away. Sorry. Tagging Jef Stokoe Rick Cobbold Craig Harris, Flik Green, Ben Marriott , Matthew Kibble, Liam Mullan, Robert Doughty, Sarah Atherton-Knight, Alex Lawson and Alex Hodgson as Im curious how differnt their lists would be.
