You are the vessel but you are just following your internal intuition (which is irrational) and therefore you dont understand any more than the listener what it all means. Youre just processing your feelings from living in a twisted society and using that intuition in that moment in time to write, your mind does not think like theirs of future repercussions the song might have, it only manages information in real-time, and so to someone like that it is very annoying to constantly ask for the meaning of something when all theyre trying to do with music is strike people emotionally in the present, make them feel something, not change the world politically. And, the interviewers seemed to get kind of offended when Bob would say “I don’t know” to one of their questions, but really, it’s the most fundamental thing we can say as human beings..as long as the point is grasped. *I am truly thankful for all of the songwriters in my life that inspire me.
