That moment when a lightbulb goes off and all you can say Oh Wow, Holy Shit!!. At the completion of a fantastic 9.5 mile run I asked my friend and trainee what she wanted to do to finish out our session together this morning. Weight training ect. Knowing what I know, I was not the least bit surprised when she asked me if I would mind her forgoing the 30 minutes with me so she could work on some footwork. I watched from a distance. About 20 minutes into it she walks over to her gear bag and pulls something out of it. I couldnt see it but whatever it was it fit perfectly in the palm of her hand. With the object in hand she returned to practicing her footwork. Ok out of curiosity over what it was she pulled out of her bag I walked over to check it out. Small, sharp and looks not so intimidating. Without acting too much like a dude I asked what she was working on and she tells me footwork. Ah duh! Wing Chun footwork to start with and then Kali. And about the not so intimidating little gadget she has hidden in her hand?!?! Its a karambit Im told and it does not need to be intimidating when used like that while practicing footwork like this - HOLY SHIT!! All she says after that as Im standing there with my jaw on the floor ready to piss my pants, Welcome to the world of Kali. Damn remind me never to get on her bad side. Lol.
