That time of the week again: The Culture Spot This week we are going to focus on Halloween in Germany. Over the last couple of years the Germans have embraced Halloween. As you all know the phrase Trick or Treat, in Germany the phrase Süßes oder Saures is used. However trick or treating is only seen in the big metropolitan cities, as eleven days after Halloween is St.Martinstag. The idea of pumpkin carving has been adapted quite well, with carving parties that usually end with Pumpkin soup :) In Austria the annual Pumpkin festival is held in Retz, where the weekend is dedicated to family fun and of course Halloween with the last event being a Halloween parade with floats!
