Shampoo _______________________________ 3 drops Melaleuca 1 teaspoon Shampoo Add 2 drops of Melaleuca per handful of shampoo. Shampoo, let sit the shampoo sit on scalp for 5 minutes. Be careful to avoid getting shampoo in eyes. How to GET RID of Lice Lice are small and wingless parasites that live off blood and other elements of the skin. They cant fly or jump so theyre spread by human contact or exchange of clothes, hats, shared bedding, combs and brushes. Common symptoms would be reddish skin, itching and inflammation. Be watchful behind ears and just under hair line at the back of neck. Nits (eggs) are usually found attached to hair strands near the scalp (see photo above), theyre tiny but, large enough to be seen by the human eye. Lice Treatment _______________________________ 8 drops Melaleuca 8 drops Lavender 8 drops Rosemary 8 drops Lemon 2 ounces organic olive oil Add the EOs to the olive oil and massage into scalp and hair being meticulous in making sure every square inch of scalp is saturated. Leave the oils on the scalp for at least an hour. Covering with a shower cap is very helpful here. Watch for any drips, this combination of oils wouldnt feel very good if it got into little ones eyes. Keep extra olive or coconut oil handy just in case of drips to dissolve the oils - oil dissolves oil. After an hour or more has passed thoroughly comb hair out with a special lice/nit comb. Stainless steel combs are best as you can sterilize them between use. Eggs have a life cycle of 8 days. Make sure you treat at least three times in an 3 day period. Boil or run all hair utensils thru a hot water cycle in the dishwasher after every treatment. Wash all clothing that your childs worn to school that day, every day in hot water. Wash all bedding in hot water. Empty the vacuum each time you use it.
