Mercer, the chief attorney of the forensics division of the Maryland public defender’s office and one of the lawyers involved in the case that resulted in the recent Supreme Court decision on DNA. “If that doesn’t strike at a core value of privacy, I don’t know what does.” I sure hope there will soon be a private citizens group that will run around gathering up DNA samples from elected officials and local, state and federal workers, do so in an unbridled and largely uncoordinated manner, with possibly questionable methodology and then make that database available to anyone who asks for it, to be used for whatever purpose they see fit.
