The £1.3million rise prompted fears last night that MPs were milking the system. New figures show Cabinet ministers are among more than 150 MPs employing a family member. Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin’s wife Lynn works as his senior parliamentary assistant, earning up to £44,999 a year. Justice Secretary Chris Grayling’s wife Susan is on up to £39,999, while senior Labour MP Hilary Benn employs wife Sally as his parliamentary assistant. She earns up to £24,999 a year.
