The #1 idea in today’s modern “mainstream” Judeo-Christian circles is that God wants the best for you. This is true, however, most men interpret this to mean what they think is best; and not what God thinks is best. Man naturally wants to be rich. Man naturally wants to be healthy. Man naturally wants everything he touches to turn to gold. But what most men don’t piece together is that man is naturally on a crash course that leads straight into the pits of hell. He comes by that naturally too! God cares more about your eternal provision than your temporal comforts. The greatest blessing you may ever receive is a supernatural gift of poverty, sickness, failure, & suffering. God may even bring you to nothing so that you will finally need something from Him. He did me. God knocks us down so that we look up. I am personally grateful for the 35 years I have spent on my back. I now spend that time on my knees, appreciative, for all the time and love He invested in me. “The LORD has disciplined me severely, but he has not given me over to death.”—Psalms 118:18
