The $100 million in donations came from more than 3 million donors - TopicsExpress

The $100 million in donations came from more than 3 million donors who have contributed since the challenge went viral in late July. The ALS Association raised only $2.8 million in the same period last year. For all the people I see posting about how tacky it is and how if they want to donate theyll do it quietly. Well thats all well and good but they donated about 33x as much this year as last year in the same time period . So I dont think that this foundation is really more appreciative to those who donate quietly than to those who scream while water is being dumped on their heads. Im ecstatic that the Race for a Cure has raised millions of dollars with women sporting tacky shirts that say things like Save the tatas. Do I care that that money was not donated quietly as is the correct way of doing it? Heck no! Now do you want to know why? Because I know several women who are here today because of treatments developed because people donated their money in all kinds of ways tacky and otherwise. One of those women is my Mom!!! Shes well and healthy today because of early detection and medications that keep it from coming back! I could care less if that money came from quiet private donations from wealthy rich people or from the sales of tshirts that say save the boobies. Im just happy I have my Mama! Im certain 10-20 years from now if someone is still well and walking around and breathing because of treatments discovered with that 100 million dollars they arent going to give a darn if it came from the ice bucket challenge.
