The 10th chapter of John is awesome! Jesus says how in ancient days there would often be many sheep(belonging to different families) in a single sheep pen (like many people today in a single city but belonging to different deities) but despite the crowd, those who belong to Him know His voice and FOLLOW Him. Not just recognize Him and continue mingling with the others and doing their own thing. They drop what they are doing and follow Him. He says He knows us by name(speaking to the personal aspect of our relationship). Youre not just another unimportant number to God. It goes on to say He would(and did) even give His life for His sheep. The good Shepard defeats the wolf thats threatening to attack not run and leave us to our demise. This rocked the Jews. They was on the fence and divided. But Jesus told them plainly. The works I do in my Fathers name testify of me. But you do not believe because you are not My sheep. Mind you, he was talking to the holy folks He goes on to say just how once we are in His grip its a one way street. Nothing and no one(including yourself) can take us from His grasp. Our eternal destiny is sealed in Christ as long as its AUTHENTIC from the start(we cant hold Jesus accountable for counterfeit conversions). Then we see it ending with them trying to stone Jesus. He says I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?...this shows their mindset. Jesus had come and performed miracles that could have only been from God and He fit the complete description of the Messiah and instead of bowing down they still chose to try and kill Him because He claimed to be God. It reminds me of those today who have witnessed Gods glory and have enough evidence of who He is and know they should serve Him but for whatever reason they choose not to. Instead they will take the one thing they think is proof against Him and ride that wave out. Not understanding that its not the approval of man that makes God who He is. We must pray that eyes will be opened and hearts will be softened. Pray that these wandering sheep will hear and recognize the voice of Christ and begin to follow Him instead of wandering around namelessly. Pray that people understand that you dont have to fully understand EVERYTHING about God to serve Him. All you need initially is that first experience. And take off from there. The knowledge will come with studying. The wisdom will come with fellowship and experience. The spirituality will come with communion with your God. The change will come with the sanctification process. But before any of that can happen, you must open the door when He knocks. Harden NOT your heart. Its not a gamble when you guaranteed to win. Got questions? Need to talk or help? Hit my inbox, cell, email, swing by my crib, Ill swing by yours, mcdonalds parking lot...it dont matter.
