The 1st Zanzibar International Music Education Workshop will be held at the Dhow Countries Music Academy on 1st and 2nd August 2014 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with concerts in the evenings. The Workshop has as its main objective to develop methods and materials for the teaching of music of Zanzibar in the schools of Tanzania and other parts of the world. Prominent scholars working in the area of bringing world music traditions into school music programs will offer presentations, and Workshop participants will work to develop appropriate and effective methods and materials for this endeavor.
