The 2013 Canadian Pacific Holiday Train program launches on - TopicsExpress

The 2013 Canadian Pacific Holiday Train program launches on November 26 with two brightly decorated trains making a fundraising trek across Canada and the United States. Since the program first launched in 1999, it has raised $7.4 million and 3 million pounds of food for local communities. This year, the Nicholson Biz (Nicholson Business & Professional Association) is kicking off a new event on the night the Holiday Train crosses the Tunkhannock Viaduct - a Food Festival. Beginning at 5:00 pm and running until 8:00 PM, food vendors will be on and around Main Street in Nicholson to help fill the bellies of the hundreds of spectators that gather below the Tunkhannock Viaduct (aka The Nicholson Bridge). Each year the holiday train crosses the bridge on a different day and at a different time determined by the Canadian Pacific schedule, which is not made public until October 1. This year, the spectacle of lights visits us on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and is expected to arrive between 6:30 - 6:45 PM, which is earlier than in years past. The NBPA is hoping that by offering a Food Festival, people will have time to enjoy the evening by not having to worrying about feeding the family and rushing downtown in order to not miss the train. Another, more important, purpose of the Food Fest is to help fill the shelves of the Nicholson Food Pantry. Attendees are asked to BRING ALL YOU CAN to help support our Food Pantry. There will be THREE drop off locations where attendees can drop off their non perishable food items or a cash donation. In return, the NBPA will give you a free chance to win BRIDGE BUCKS - that can be used as cash in any of the businesses who are members of the NBPA. Make a donation at all three of the collection sites - and get three chances to win! There will be two (3) $25 Certificates awarded. MORE INFORMATION AND A LIST OF FOOD VENDORS IS COMING SOON! Thank you in advance for supporting Nicholson!
