The 2014 World Cup is finally here! Excited? Me too!! Heres John Olivers take on one of the worlds most corrupt event, which kicks off on Thursday: At this point, I hope Ive proven to you that FIFA is just appalling. And yet, I am still so excited about the World Cup! And its very hard to justify how I can get so much joy from an organization thats caused so much pain. Other than going back to where we started. Soccer, or Football like we say, its a religion. But its not just that. Its an organized religion, and FIFA is its church. Just think about it. Its leader is infallible, it compels South American countries to spend money they dont have building opulent cathedrals, and it may ultimately be responsible for the death of shocking number of people in the Middle East.
