The 24-carat fake activists The morally selective activists who claim to be rightly outraged by th genocide in Gaza while ignoring or justifying Assads ongoing genocide for over three years and counting are 24-carat fakes. Oh, they like looking compassionate and outraged, but the actual recipients of their support or indifference - Palestinians, Syrians, Iraqis, Egyptians, etc - are in effect viewed as one-dimensional ciphers, there to provide a backdrop for political debate or posturing, as much to these Western activists as to the governments they claim to oppose. And when people are merely one-dimensional ciphers, that makes it very easy to feign outrage over one genocide but disregard another - politicians do it all the time.
