The 70s saw the emergence of Funk as a solid music genre with its own sub-genres...Jazzfunk, and dare I say Afrofunk. The thing about funk is the driving beat that pounds the heart and moves your soul and feet to boogie! Funk was best served live and hot. Hence why the funk groups of that era probably made more money from live shows. Funk was powered by musicians sweating out the rythmns, feeding on that collective energy to produce brilliant vocal hamonies over pulsating beats. If youve been to a concert or watched groups like Earth Wind & Fire, Parliament, Commodores, Bar-Kays, Brass Construction...youd know what Im talking about. T.O.P was one of the relatively unknown funk groups of the 70s but this track gained serious air-play for its simple catchy chorus. Its that kind of tune youd hear the DJ play at about 4:30am to get a good sing-along after sweating out the previours floor fillers and the blues or slow jams session. So, get up Brother and Sister...no parking on the dance floor cause you ought to be having fun! A happy weekend to yall
