The 74th episode of the Simpsons is I Love Lisa. Lisa feels sorry for the socially inept Ralph Wiggum on Valentines Day and gives him a card. Ralph is over excited by Lisas affection and starts doting on her. Lisa wants to go to a Krusty the Clown special and Ralph is the only way to get a ticket. Bart offers to take her place stating You dont want to know how far I will go. When the special occurs, Lisa declares before a live studio audience that She never liked Ralph and only gave him the card because no one else would. Bart is nice enough later to pause the exact moment that Ralphs heart breaks. After the rejection, Ralph channels all his emotion into a school play and a performance as George Washington. Everyone is moved and Ralph decides that they can be just friends. It is the kind of coming of age story that seems so simple at the time and becomes more meaningful as time goes on. One of the truly great bittersweet episodes. The chalkboard gag is I will not call the principal spud head. The couch gag is that the family marches to the couch with elephants and circus performers.
