The 75th Training Command has a rich history that started on the front lines of WWII as the 75th Infantry Division. Members of the 75th Infantry Division Veterans Association will meet this Saturday in St. Louis during their 2014 Reunion. During WWII the 75th Infantry Division received numerous awards, including 3 Distinguished Service Crosses, 3 Legion of Merits, 114 Silver Stars, 21 Soldier’s Medals, and 1,287 Bronze Star Medals, and 29 Air Medals. The division suffered many casualties, including 888 soldiers KIA, 2,970 wounded in action, and 111 died of wounds. After Germany’s surrender, the division became the civil-military government in Westphalia, gathering and caring for 175,000 Allied prisoners of war and displaced persons also formed a central part o f its duties.
